Professor Bio
I have been teaching Bus 150 at Francis Marion since 2003. Teaching, however, isn't my only job. My primary job is serving as Vice President of Sun Belt Line, Inc., a transportation management and consultation company. As Vice President of Sun Belt Line, Inc., I supervise and direct each of the company's four main businesses, including Match Factors, Inc., an accounts receivable finance company; The Match Maker, Inc., a transportation brokerage firm; Truck Insurance, Inc., an independent insurance agency; and Logistec/TTS Resident Agents Service, Inc., a transportation licensing and permitting agency.
I serve as a board member of the International Factoring Association (IFA), the primary trade association for Commercial Factors, and volunteer as a committee member for the Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) Emerging Technology subcommittee. In addition, I serve as an ex-Officio Board Member for the Young Professionals of Florence, a civic development and networking organization for younger professionals in the Greater Florence area. I also previously served on the board for the Francis Marion Alumni Association.
A hometown product and avid Gamecock fan, I grew up in Florence and earned my BBA in Marketing from Francis Marion University in 1999. I later obtained my MBA from the University of South Carolina in 2001. While earning my MBA, I worked as a small business consultant for the Small Business Development Center in Columbia, SC, where I assisted inviduals and businesses with developing business plans and obtaining small business loans.
One of my goals for Bus 150 is to introduce students to core business concepts, lessons and fundamentals from a small business and entreprenial perspective. Too often small business principles tend to get ignored or overlooked in other business courses. Exposing you to a small business framework will allow me to help you to develop a better understanding and appreciation for all business concepts.
Enjoy!
